HOD'S Desk Welcome to the Department of Chemistry. The department is one of the oldest department of Thiruvalluvar Government Arts College. Faculty members of the department with focus on their thrust areas of research to be a part of solving today’s challenges. The interaction of students with the faculty is encouraged and is reflected in the high degree of success of the students in interviews, competitive examinations & technical presentations. Department Profile The Chemistry Department was formally established in the year 1977 with B.Sc. (Chemistry) Course. The M.Sc. (Chemistry) Course was started in 2003 as a Self – Supporting course which was converted into Aided course in June 2006 by the State Government. The M.Phil. (Full Time and Part Time) and Ph.D. (Full Time and Part Time) research courses were started in year 2012.
Facilities The Laboratory of Chemistry is fully equipped for the functioning of B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D., courses. Department library has 2721 books and Journal of Chemical Science and Current Science are available. To educate, train and develop highly competent chemists capable of providing solutions to improve quality of human life and environment.
